History
A century on the corner
Finished in 1916 for the Grand Rapids Savings Bank, the tower at Monroe Center and Ionia was designed by Osgood & Osgood: a granite hall, four Doric columns, and a terra-cotta cornice. The year it opened, Harry Houdini hung from the facade in a straitjacket while the city packed the intersection. The National Register listed the building in 1990. In the early 2000s the offices above the banking hall became Cityview.
Living
A landmark you actually live in
Cityview is for people who want the energy of downtown without giving up the feeling of coming home. You enter through a secured door to tall windows, nine-foot ceilings, and views over Monroe Center. Owners serve on the board. The shared spaces are looked after by people who use them.
A rooftop deck takes in the river and the arena lights. Dinner, the market, and a night at Van Andel are a walk. Residents park at the Pearl / Ionia ramp, a block away.
